Conservative Activist and Turning Point USA Founder Charlie Kirk Dead at 31
OREM, Utah (Newsmax) — Charlie Kirk, the conservative activist who founded Turning Point USA and became a leading voice for young conservatives in American politics, died Wednesday after being shot during a speaking event at Utah Valley University. He was 31.
"The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead," President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social. "No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!"
The FBI is investigating the shooting as potential political violence.

Kirk's Last Words: 'Counting or Not Counting Gang Violence?'
Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA who was shot dead Wednesday at an event in Utah, had been asked a question about mass shooters seconds before the incident.
Video posted to social media showed Kirk speaking at a debate hosted by his nonprofit organization at Utah Valley University. He had been taking questions from the crowd.
A man in a grey shirt and glasses asked Kirk, "How many transgenders have been mass shooters over the last 10 years?" to which Kirk replied: "Too many."
The first part of the man's next question is muffled, but he does ask Kirk, "Now five is a lot, I'm going to give you some credit. Do you know how many mass shooters there have been in America over the last 10 years?"
Kirk replied "Counting or not counting gang violence" before being shot in the neck.
Kirk's death was announced on social media by President Donald Trump, who praised the 31-year-old as "Great, and even Legendary."
The suspected shooter has not been arrested, Orem, Utah, Mayor David Young said. A person who was taken into custody by law enforcement at the university where Kirk was speaking was not the suspect, according to a person familiar with the investigation who was not authorized to speak publicly.
At that time, a single shot rang out and Kirk was seen reaching up with his right hand as a large amount of blood gushed from the left side of his neck. Stunned spectators are heard gasping and screaming before people start to run away. The Associated Press was able to confirm the videos were taken at Sorensen Center courtyard on the Utah Valley University campus.

A PROCLAMATION
As a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, September 14, 2025. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.
